Privacy Policy

Reelsinary ("we", "us", the "Service") turns Instagram reels and carousels into a map of the
places they mention. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
- Links you submit. Instagram reel/post URLs you paste into the app or send to our Instagram account by direct message.
- Public content from those links. To extract places, we process the public caption, audio, on-screen text, and metadata of the reel you share, using third-party APIs (Apify, Google Gemini, Google Places).
- Maps you create. The extracted places (names, coordinates, categories, notes) and a map identifier, so you can revisit and edit your map.
- An anonymous account. We create an anonymous account to associate maps with your session. You may later link an email or social login.
- Instagram messaging data (DM feature). When you send a direct message to our Instagram account (@reelsinary), Meta's Instagram messaging platform provides us with the message you sent (the reel/post link and any text), your Instagram-scoped ID, and your public Instagram display name and profile picture. We use this solely to extract the places from the reel you sent and to reply to you in that same conversation with a link to your map. We do not receive your Instagram password, we do not read messages you have not sent to us, and we do not message you unprompted beyond replying to your request and optional notifications about maps you are part of.
How we use it
- To extract places from the reels you share and build your map.
- To save your maps and let you return to, edit, and share them.
- To reply to you in Instagram DMs with a link to your map.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share the content you submit only with the processors needed to run
the Service (Supabase for hosting/storage; Apify, Google Gemini and Google Places for extraction
and geocoding; Cloudflare for hosting). Maps you choose to share are accessible to anyone with the
link.
Product analytics
Product analytics. We record how the service is used (for example: a reel was
submitted, a map was created or opened, an edit was made) to improve Reelsinary. These records
are tied to your account or map identity, processed on our legitimate interest, and contain no
message content, captions, or email addresses. We use PostHog (EU-hosted) as our processor. We
do not set analytics cookies or store analytics identifiers on your device, and we do not use
this data for advertising.
Retention & deletion
We keep your maps until you delete them or request deletion. To delete your data, or to revoke the
Instagram connection, remove the app from your Instagram settings (Settings → Apps and websites) or
contact us at the email below and we will delete your maps and associated identifiers.
Your choices
- Don't share a reel you don't want processed.
- Disconnect the app anytime from Instagram → Settings → Apps and websites.
- Request deletion of your maps and data by contacting us.
